Need help funding a research project using DNA in saliva?

2011-10-11

If you’re looking for funding for your research project using DNA in saliva, DNA Genotek’s Grant Program might be the solution. Today, DNA Genotek launched a new Grant Program designed to uncover new, innovative applications for our products.

The Grant Program encompasses three primary areas of focus:

  • Cancer
  • Personalized medicine
  • Infectious disease

This is the first time we have made a program like this available and we’re very excited to share this news. The Grant Program invites research proposals that showcase innovative and novel use of our saliva-based collection and stabilization products in the genetic/genomic bases of one of the designated research areas. Notable proposals for the use of DNA Genotek products in research focused on other disease(s) are also encouraged. The winning research proposal will receive up to $30,000 US and up to 500 DNA Genotek sample collection kits.

Ian Curry, president of DNA Genotek Inc. commented: “We created the DNA Genotek Grant Program to reward scientists who are accelerating the application of genetics to gain knowledge in three critical areas of research. We want to reward those who are pushing the boundaries of what can be done with DNA or RNA while contributing to the scientific idea pipeline for cancer, personalized medicine or infectious disease research.”

Investigators must submit an application online before midnight ET, Monday, January 16th, 2012. The winner will be notified in March of 2012. For more information about the grant program or to apply, visit the Grant Program web site.

DNA Genotek will have information on the Grant Program available at the International Congress of Human Genetics (ICHG) and the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) annual meetings in Montreal, QC (booth # 1004). Additional information will be available at DNA Genotek’s information session at ICHG/ASHG on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Le Centre Sheraton Hotel, Salon 4/5, Level 2 at 7:00 p.m.
